Class Info

Welcome to the lovely world of solo jazz guitar!

In this seven week course, Tracy takes seven different songs ranging from jazz classics to Beatles to Stevie Wonder and teaches the various approaches to creating solo jazz guitar arrangements.

Besides learning the melody(most important!), you will learn how to choose chord voicings including triads and basic seventh chords to lush open string voicings. Also discussed and demonstrated are chord inversions, bass line construction, and common chord substitutions.

Tracy will also discuss practice techniques and ways to develop an improvisational approach over songs using chords. Also, learn some quick tricks on developing intros and endings.

The set list will be chosen from the following songs:

Georgia On My Mind
Lullaby of Birdland
Dream A Little Dream
Fly Me to the Moon
This Can't Be Love
Isn't She Lovely
In My Life
Ain't Misbehavin'
Bye Bye Blackbird
How High The Moon
Black Orpheus
Moon Glow
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Ac-Cent-U-Ate the Positive
Glory Of Love
Don't Get Around Much Anymore
Besame Mucho
