Becoming a Songwriter

Artichoke Community Music School: On-Line (location map)
Thursday, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
09/24/20 - 10/15/20 (4 weeks)

In this course, I will be teaching the basics of songwriting for any style of music. We will startwith questions like, “What is the purpose or goal of a song?” and “How do a lyric, hook and melody work together?”. Students should be prepared to come to the workshop with a recording device, penand paper, and an instrument (although not required!). We will also be using Laura Veirs ‘Kaleidoscope Creativity Cards’ which provide fun prompts for getting a song started. Students may purchase these from her website or I can provide the prompts with my set of cards.

In the end, my hope is that you’ll feel confident of your ability to take an idea and develop it into acomplete song!
